The gardens that grace the castle grounds today date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The formal Victorian west garden – with its foliage plants and pelargoniums – was faithfully reconstructed in 1993. The beautiful north garden dates from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1920s, boasts the longest herbaceous border – according to the ”Guinness Book of Records” .

The gardens to the east of Gosford house are available for the public to walk in at a cost of just £5 for a permit, which gives unlimited access to the lakes and woodland walks in this secluded part of the Wemyss estate all year round. There are a number of listed buildings to be seen, including a boathouse, a curling house, ice house and a Mausoleum.

Infamous for their summer and autumn displays this enchanting garden encompasses old roses, shrubs and herbaceous borders. The garden also contains a natural pond area which is rich in wildlife and hosts a National Tropaeolum collection.

Renaissance additions have been made to this 15th century tower house. Its dovecot and gardens have been restored with aspects of 17th and 18th century flavours including a laburnum arch, topiary, old-fashioned roses beside seating alcoves, and a herb garden.
Tthe important walled garden of the 17th century house is maintained by the Haddington Garden Trust. Located behind the Haddington, the garden includes a wildflower meadow, orchard, sunken garden, colonnade of pleached laburnum and 'mount' - which provides an outlook over the surrounding area.

  • Bed and Breakfast AND Dinner in Donald’s Bistro - £140

These rates are for a 3 course table d’hôte meal and bed and breakfast for 2 sharing a room. Excluding drinks 

We still have some availability in August and September so please do contact us to check your dates!  

We will also be running this package rate for next Summer (from April until September 2011) as well and would be happy to check any dates for you for next year also.
